This Week in Jammerland

Hi Friends!

We have been busy busy kicking off unit two in math and ela! It's Friday and I'm a tired teacher so I'm going to do a photo story of our reading small groups. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so without any further ado, the Jammers.

Here we are in the literacy loft making what appears to be sight words with the cookie letters👍

Listening to good reads on the listening pods(yellow bath mats)

The letter of the week was S so we wrote in shaving cream today!

Back from Break

Hello Friends!

We are back from break and ready to roll.  This week kicks off our brand new math unit: shapes! Today I ran a few drills with each small group testing their ability to identify shapes, then we played an exciting game of Shape Bingo!  It Mrs. Hall's group students further explored the shape of the day: squares, and independently students used shapes to make pictures.  We will continue this exciting unit for the next few weeks! Also, we started back on schedule with our library time with Mrs. Aycock. In the library we learned all about Maps, which is one of our theme focuses of the week!  The letter I ignited some imaginations as we read our Poem of the Week and circled all of the long I sounds then all of the short ones!  When the students return from lunch we will start our next unit Discovering Our World with a quick Venn Diagram of Maps & Globes.

- BEFORE THE BREAK-

We reached our goal of filling up our warm fuzzy friendship jar and had our first celebration! Here are a few photos of that celebration and center time before the break.
