Meet Ms. Joyner

Hello Jammer Families!
My name is Ashley Joyner and I am so blessed to be your child’s kindergarten teacher this year. This is my second year teaching and my third year on staff here at Mill Creek Elementary. I have a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southern University (Go Eagles!) I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Instructional Technology from GSU, and expect to complete that degree in the fall of 2014. When I’m not busy lesson planning or completing course work, you can find me enjoying time with my family (including my two French Bulldogs: Little Man & Bibi Loudermilk), reading, cooking, or cheering the Eagles onto victory at Paulson Stadium.
I anticipate a very busy and enriching year with your child. While all subjects and skills will be taught, you can expect an increased emphasis on reading, writing, and math during kindergarten. You will be amazed at the progress you see throughout the school year. I have high expectations for all of my students, and hope that you will encourage your student at home by reading with your jammer each and every night! “Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.” (Emilie Buchwald) I highly encourage parental involvement, as it enhances your students’ educational experience and keeps you well-informed to the goings-on in our classroom. I hope that many of you have the opportunity to visit our classroom during the school year so you can see our curriculum in action!
