EXCELLENT MATH RESOURCE FOR PARENTS!

Hello Jammer Land,

I hope you have had a jammin' weekend! I want to take a minute a share with you a wonderful resource that is yours to take advantage of!  The website that I'm featuring is a livebinder created by the Floyd County BOE.  This site is FULL of amazing interactive games and tools for you, as parents, to use at home with your kindergarten student.  You can get to the site by clicking here or typing into your address bar http://www.livebinders.com/play/play?id=467626. Please make yourself comfortable with this site!  The colorful tabs at the top will take you to various websites that enforce the standards that we are covering in our classroom!

I just want to highlight a few of my favorite finds on this SUPER AWESOME site! First I love the third tab from the beginning it's purple and labeled "kindergarten parent math road map."  This is exactly what is behind this tab a detailed clarification of exactly what we will be covering in mathematics this year through the common core standards!  I like how this article pulls away all of the educational jargon and really breaks down where we are going with our students, in a way that parents can easily follow! If you have a minute I highly recommend reading through this article to clear up any questions you may have about the mathematics curriculum we will be covering this year.

Another great find on this site is the "math games" green tab it is the sixth from the left.  After clicking this tab you are brought to a page with several "sub tabs" with websites names on them (check it out below) these tabs take you to an extensive collection of  fun online games to play with your child.  IF you don't have constant access to a computer there is a tab directly next to the math games labeled "math printables."  This red tab brings you to resources you may print out to use with your child.

Lastly, I would like to draw your attention to the "summer math practice" tab which is in the bottom center of the tab section of the site.   This brings you to a page of resources available for you to get your kindergartener ready for the BIG first grade!

Please don't feel this site is mandatory practice, but it is a great resource that would be beneficial practice for EVERY kindergarten student!! Thanks for checking us out & happy learning!

Love,
Ms. Joyner
